BALANCE teachers Kerry Michelle Clarke – BALANCE
BALANCE is an integrated programme of Hatha (Relaxing), Dynamic (Physical) and balance work with links into Patanjali philosophy.
I joined the military at the tender age of 16, left as a British Army Captain and retrained to work as a Primary school teacher, whilst teaching fitness classes throughout the county. I found Yoga 12 years ago and as a rugby player who loved running and all cardiovascular exercise it was an extreme challenge to touch my toes. Having trained with Inner Healing based in Northamptonshire and with extensive research and experience of a wealth of teachers, I love teaching Yoga and am passionate about holistic health; starting with body and mind... I am specifically interested in the philosophy of Yoga and exploring the benefits of the asanas.
In my class you will be relaxed, challenged and gain an enhanced body awareness and overall conditioning of fitness, whilst exercising the mind enabling a great release and complete relaxation.
DIANE EARDLEY – facilitator of ‘Vibrant Living’ and Dru Health and Wellbeing Classes
As a qualified Remedial Yoga Therapist I have experience of working with people with both mild and chronic conditions including Cancer, Parkinsons, MS, paralysis, learning difficulties, back problems etc. I am also a student Dru Yoga Health & Wellbeing Teacher, Holistic Bodyworker & Conscious Co-creational Life Coach with a wealth of experience in the holistic health field of mind, body and soul. My aim is to empower everyone to step into living an exciting, creative, abundant, vibrant, healthy and positive stress free life in which they have fun creating and living every moment to their fullest and highest potential.
Although I work with what wants to happen in the moment, my Vibrant Living Dru Health and Wellbeing Classes at The Balance Studio usually involve:-
* Living in harmony with your physicality – achieved through fun cardiovascular activations, gentle flowing sequences for promotion of flexibility and stamina, development of pro-prioperception (enhanced subtle awareness of the physical body and its alignment through Asanas) and promotion of pranayama.
*Living accountably – achieved by conscious self awareness at all levels including looking at personal attitudes, beliefs, programming, language etc;
*Living ‘holistically’ – achieved by working with the subtle energetic systems of the body such as the chakra system, energetic vibrational frequencies and promoting stillness in motion through relaxation and meditation.
As well as offering one-to-one tuition at Balance for physical wellbeing and private consultations either face-to-face or via telephone for mental and spiritual transformation, I also hold workshops at Balance throughout the year with specific focus on various aspects of vibrant living such as ‘The Yogic Way to a Healthy Spine’ ‘The Power of Sound’ and ‘Introduction to Dru’

Charlie Carter - Dynamic yoga I first became aware of yoga in the early 1970s through watching the television series Yoga For Health presented by Richard Hittleman. I can remember sitting in front of the TV struggling to emulate the postures being demonstrated, I even bought the book to accompany the programme, my first yoga book! This was my introduction to yoga, and I saw it only as a form of exercise, nothing more, and it's fair to say my interest didn't last too long. However, something must have stuck, for some years later, when I was practising martial arts, I found myself using the postures from this book to aid my stretching routine. In those early days I was living in London, and with yoga classes springing up everywhere, I was able to attend a variety of classes, but I was still looking at yoga on a physical level only. It wasn't until the late 1980's, having now moved to Northampton, that I joined a FRYOG yoga teacher training course and began to look beyond the physical aspect of yoga. Here I found a depth of knowledge so great and profound that yoga has fascinated me ever since. With new found interest I attended as many yoga classes and workshops as I could. I couldn't get enough, I immersed myself in yoga, practising with different teachers from different styles, always seeking, questioning and learning. In December 1991 I attended my first Ashtanga yoga class with Derek Ireland and Lesley Warrell. I instantly knew this is what I had been looking for, I was hooked and immediately became a student of theirs, practising with them until Derek's passing in 1998. During the summer of 1995 I attended an Ashtanga teacher training course at the Practice Place on the island of Crete, practising with Derek and Radha first and second series, pranayama and theory. Their passion, enthusiasm and dedication has inspired me ever since. As I have evolved so has my yoga practice. These days my teaching incorporates the core principles of the Ashtanga system, while drawing on other influences to form a challenging practise, that can be adapted according to ones own individual needs. For me life without yoga would be incomplete, I do it because I enjoy it, I always feel good afterwards, mentally and physically refreshed. It has enabled me to enjoy each day, face new challenges and not take myself too seriously. Ann Crowder - Well-being Coach “Who am I “well-being sessions are provided in a series as well as one off sessions. These have been running since Balance began with wonderful testimonials from participants. With twenty years experience in the public sector seven years ago I trained as a Life and Executive Coach. Alongside my one to one coaching sessions I also have a passion for working with groups and love to run workshops under the heading “Who am I?”. My style is flexible as it is fitted around whatever is needed for the individual and the group –I believe in everyone I coach and use many approaches, styles and tools to help people get to where they want to be. Everyone has great strengths, sometimes these are forgotten and sometimes they need fine tuning, I love to see the moment when this is recognised and off they go! We work hard in the sessions to nurture the right atmosphere so you can get the best out of your life. You will feel challenged but also supported by the group. In the workshops we use the links between body, mind and soul and create a safe place to find out who you are now and who you want to be in the future. The first step can be the hardest but we break it down to small steps that create real and sustained change. You will learn about you, what you want, how to get it and how to keep it!
Debbie Luck - Pilates Teacher It was the early 90's after two children when I became a "fitness freak". Attending many classes I soon realised I'd rather be teaching than participating. I passed my RSA in aerobics and quickly began exhausting myself "going for the burn" teaching aerobics, aqua and circuit training. For 10 years of leg warmers and leotards and purely out of needing a change, I attended a Pilates class. After years of punishing my body I'd found a new challenging workout...I was hooked. I couldn't wait to learn more and to teach others the great benefits of this strong exercise and rejoice in the fact our goals can be achieved without over stressing with 'high impact' and gruelling workouts, I had a new a new direction and loved it. In my class you will feel energised, strong, flexible, very body aware and gain a sense of achievement whatever your ability or fitness level. You will soon see and feel the benefits of this wonderful workout and become as hooked as I am!
Vivienne Titmuss Sun Power Yoga / Sports & Remedial Massage Therapist I first experienced yoga 11 years ago and the impact of that class remains with me today. Shortly after, I decided that my career ladder was against the wrong wall and I resigned from the advertising industry after 10 long years! An inner instinct directed me to massage and after completing courses in Therapeutic and then Sports and Remedial Massage, I established a varied client base working in clinics in London for 5 years before returning to Northamptonshire. Whilst working with people on a musculoskeletal level I became increasingly aware of the connection between emotional and physical well-being. This along with personal experience of how the mind and body are intrinsically linked, primarily gained through my yoga journey, led me to train with Sun Power Yoga so that I could teach and share the oldest personal development system with others. In addition to group adult classes, I teach 1-2-1 sessions and children’s yoga. I can also provide advice on musculoskeletal issues and Sports & Remedial Massage treatments to complement yoga practice. Sun Power Yoga has evolved from Sivananda (Hatha) and dynamic vinyasa (flowing) yoga whilst remaining respectful to the ancient philosophy of yoga. During a Sun Power Yoga class you will work with the breath to help focus the mind whilst working with good body alignment to develop a more flexible, strong and balanced mind and body. After qualifying as a RGN in 1988, I went on to study midwifery and became a midwife in 1991. I worked in London for several years before moving to Northampton and have worked as a midwife at Northampton General Hospital since 1994. I live in Northampton with my husband and two children. Through my work as a midwife, I had the opportunity to train to teach 'yogacise' for pregnancy at the hospital which I found very enjoyable. This introduction to yoga planted a seed and I decided that I wanted to pursue this. About four years ago I started practising yoga and regularly attending classes. I was amazed at the profound effect yoga had on my whole being. This prompted me to discover more. I enrolled with the Inner Healing School of Yoga and embarked on their foundation course which was a one year course. This was a wonderful introduction to yoga and I followed this with the Inner Healing's two year diploma course which has enabled me to start teaching yoga. I firmly believe that yoga practice can benefit everyone regardless of age or ability. It is so much more than physical exercise and the effects are felt on many different levels. Yoga practice creates an equilibrium, an inner strength and a positive outlook on life. Pregnancy and childbirth are life changing events. Pregnancy is a time of great excitement and anticipation which can be tinged with fear of the unknown and anxiety in our abilities to cope with labour. Yoga can assist a woman through the changes and challenges of pregnancy and childbirth. Physically, it can help with the discomforts of pregnancy and allow greater freedom of movement. Emotionally, it can bring a sense of calm and an ability to let go through the breath. Feelings of confidence and self belief can be attained through visualisations and affirmations. |
